- When the Charlotte Meentzen company celebrated its 75th. anniversary in 2005, it relived the exciting early days of its founding and paid tribute to the strong-willed business women who, in the pioneering days of cosmetics, firmly believed in their ideals: at the age of 26 Charlotte Meentzen founded her “Institute for Natural Cosmetics” in Dresden. That was 1930. Together with her sister, Gertrude Seltmann-Meentzen, she also established the “Charlotte Meentzen Medicinal Herbal Cosmetics” company and the “School for Natural Cosmetics”. Shortly after, she developed the facial massage known as the “Charlotte Meentzen System” and demonstrated her knowledge of “Medicinal Herbs in the Service of Beauty” in a book of the same name: one of the first – if not the first – standard publication about natural cosmetics. These facts alone testify to the unique pioneer work performed by Charlotte Meentzen in the interests of “natural beauty care”.
- The anniversary highlights included a specially published book called ”Wangenrot – Naturkosmetik von Anis bis Zinnkraut” (Rouge – Natural Cosmetics from Anise to Horsetail) ; the newly developed make-up Natural Liquid Foundation and the enriched anti-age range Age Control.
